R-Values
  • THE K Factor on microfoam is .27
The formula for R Value is as follows:
  • Thickness of blanket ÷ K factor of Insulation = R Value
  • 1/2" ÷ .27 = R of 1.85
  • 3/4" ÷ .27 = R of 2.77
Due to the fact that Microfoam is manufactured in multi layers which create additional airspace, use the following as a guide for R-Values:
  • 2 Layer Blanket = R2
  • 3 Layer Blanket = R3
  • 5 Layer Blanket = R5
FOR COMPARISON WITH OTHER MANUFACTURE'S METHOD OF TESTING BLANKETS USING ASTM C-518 INCLUDING A 3" AIRSPACE (WHICH DOES NOT EXIST IN ACTUAL JOBSITE APPLICATIONS) WE ESTIMATE THE FOLLOWING R-VALUES:
  • 2 LAYER BLANKET = R7
  • 3 LAYER BLANKET = R8
  • 5 LAYER BLANKET = R15
